Off she goes

Hello , to all my blog friends.

Well it was only a matter of time ,and here it is.

My little Edith was seen by a lovely lady on facebook who contacted me and asked if she could have her . So I dressed her in her Sunday best , a lace shawl and a flower hair band , gave her a little name tag so her new owner would know what to call her and made a pretty box for her to travel in .

She will be off to the post office tomorrow ,and on her way to her new home

Bye Bye Edith  xx

Crocheting again

Hi to all my blog friends.

Just wanted to pop by and show you my latest bear . She is made from a wool blend chunky mix yarn in a plum colour. I used the same pattern as before , but made a few adjustments along the way . I couldn't resist putting a few finishing touches to this one , so I made a shawl for her with a spare piece of lace and made a beige satin flower for her hair which has a lace trim. Of course I had to give her a name so she is to be known as BRAMBLINA.

I'm going to try and make some boxes for the teddies to sit in so that they can keep clean

I do hope you are not getting to bored of seeing my teddy creations

A fascinating request

Hello blog friends ,

Now over the years in my crafting world I have had many requests from friends & family to make things here and there and I always try to oblige with the details that they give me and make them what they want.

So when I received a phone call from my sister asking for my help I was very intrigued ,especially as she is a John Lewis kinda girl if you know what I mean. She went on to tell to me that she had a forthcoming wedding to attend and that it was a formal affair and that she would like me to make her a fascinator to wear that would match her outfit. The spec was , "cream dont mind feathers , diamontes and netting, i'll leave it to you "
Sisters don't you just love them!!!

Oh my goodness this was a new one on me, I had never been asked to do that before and didn't really know where to begin. So off I went  to do some research , starting with good old Google , you tube and Ebay to get some ideas of how to put these things together .
Now one of the things that my sister and I both have in common is that we do have very wild hair a cross between horse mane and barbed wire if its left unattended , so the FASCINATOR would have to be secure .

I set about constructing the said headpiece, I made a cream rose from some satin fabric , coloured some pearls and made a centre piece for the rose, dyed some feathers , folded some wide wired organza ribbon and glued it all on to some felt,  and here is the finished result just waiting to be attached to a headband .
I hope she likes it after all this effort LOL

The one that nearly got away !!!!!

Hello to all my blog friends .
I have had a few computer problems this week so I have not been able to post as often as I promised myself I would do. The good news was that it gave me a little more time to get on with my latest project , which was another crocheted teddy bear , I used the same pattern as I did before (the link for the pattern  is on my previous post )only this time I tweeked it a little and used a chenille type eyelash yarn instead .

This one came out a little bigger than the last one , but he is extra soft and cuddly and stands approx 18" tall. The downside is that my grandaughter was staying with me this weekend and although she thought he looked funny as he didn't have any arms or legs attached when she arrived , things soon changed when she woke up to find him complete as you can see !!!!

I then spent the day trying to convince her that Rufus Ruffles (that's what I named him ) should stay with me , not an easy task as you can imagine.

They enjoyed their day together chatting and being the best of friends .

Room for one more

Hello lovely blog chums ,
hope you have all had a good week
Just when I thought the craft room had quite enough friends , look what I found hiding behind the cushion.

She poked her head out a little more, and...............
here she is , yet another crocheted toy , but I do love her.

I made her from a couple of 50grm balls of a pale pink eyelash yarn
so she has aged kind of look ,tied an extra large bow to her and added a lace & button rosette. I have named her Edith , don't ask me why , it just sort of came to me as I was finishing her off today . So what's a shabbied up  granny to do, but to invite her to join the gang.

Famous at last !!! (well almost)

Hello to my lovely blog friends.
I have to admit this has not been the best of weeks for me , too much work , not enough crafting and to top it off a very nice young lady decided to reverse her car into mine whilst I was waiting to park  :-(

That aside , a couple of weeks ago I sent a picture off to a crafting magazine showing off one of my origami boxes.

So when the postman delivered my usual copy for this month, I feverishly went to the readers letters page , and what do you know ....there was my little box featured on the page :-)

At least I had something to make me smile and cheer me up.
